What can I do with old mugs and glasses?
Most donation centers accept clean, unbroken glass cups and dishes. If you have a complete set of cups or bakeware, you may even be able to sell it on Craigslist or at a local consignment store.
Is it safe to drink from a crazed mug?
Coffee mugs usually develop scratches over time but they are still safe to use. Crazing inside the mug may cause harmful trace elements from the leach into the drink. The glaze is likely to chip around the crazed areas and the fragments can mix with the drink and end up being ingested.
Are vintage mugs safe?

Are glazed mugs safe?
Total Lead content in the glaze or coating of modern mugs (as detectable with an XRF) is not regulated. As long as mugs are not leaching Lead at the time of manufacture (when they are brand-new), they are considered to be safe to use — even if the Lead content of the glaze is very high.
Is it safe to drink from a cracked mug?
No it is not safe to use cracked coffee mug. Although not proven to be dangerous in finished form, a crack, chip or scratch along the inside or the lip portion of a plastic mug can emit trace amounts of plastic substances, such as bisphenol A, or even flake off fragments into the liquid, making the mug unsafe to use.
